    The attendants:  Senior class attendant, Nancy Masek, escorted by Jon Meyer, FFA Vice-president; Junior class attendant, Kate Coulter, escorted by Dwayne Loehning, FFA Sentinel; Sophomore class attendant, Theresa Grannemann, escorted by Ben Grosse, FFA Parliamentarian; and Freshman class attendant, Shari Steinbeck, escorted by David Brandt, FFA Assistant Vice-president.

Homecoming

    Spirit Week kicked off the week prior to Homecoming.  During the school days that week, we observed Camouflage Day, Cook the Eagles, the New Wave, Trample the Eagles and "I Love You, Bearcat" Day.

    The big game was against the Sullivan Eagles, and Hermann lost.

    Homecoming Queen, Jill Vanderwerken, was escorted by her father Warren.

    The Retiring Queen was Jeanne Kallmeyer who was escorted by her father Joy.

    At halftime the candidates were escorted on the field by their fathers.   Those candidates and their fathers were as follows:  Senior candidates, Cheryl Hopkins and her father Phil, Shelly Price and her father Edward, and Jane Koch and her father Neil; Junior candidates, Lynn Allemann and her father Melvin, and Kate Coulter and her father Keith; Sophomore candidates, Theresa Grannemann and her father Robert, and Amy Koch and her cousin Paul Faerber; Freshman candidates, Cheri Scheidegger and her father Calvin and Sharri Steinbeck and her father Vernon.

    Crown Bearers were Mike Winkelmann and Tiffany Blackwell.

Prom

    May 7, 1983

    Theme:   Midnight Magic

    We entered the gym through a gazebo decorated with flowers and tiny lights.  The gym was decorated with stars, clouds and a sliver moon.

    The Menu:   Moustaccioli, green beans with mushroom sauce, garlic bread, relishes, iced tea and pie.

    Music was provided by Effic.

    King and Queen, Craig Schannuth and Shelly Price.

    Retiring King and Queen, Donna Zimmerman and Paul Winkelmann.

    First Attendants, Richard Kroening and Jill Vanderwerken; Second Attendants, Kevin Stiers and Cheryl Hopkins; Third Attendants, Mike Struttmann and Jane Koch; Crown Bearers Scott Fleer and Beth Hammer.

    A Post-Prom event was held with party time from midnight to 1:30 A.M., where snacks were served and games were played.  Breakfast was served from 1:30 - 3:30 A.M.

Baccalaureate

   May 15, 1983 at 8:00 P.M.

    The Processional was by the High School Band, led by Mr. James Goebel, Director.

    The Invocation was given by Rev. Dennis Cebulak.

    The Anthem, "The Lord Bless You and Keep You," by John Rutter was performed by the Concert Choir, directed by Mrs. Marilee Shoupe.

    The Scripture Reading was by Rev. James Elliott.

    The speaker was presented by Principal John Gifford.

    The Sermon was given by Rev. Irenaeus Kimminau, O.F.M.

    The Anthem, "Sing to the Lord a New Song," by E. Sherwin Mackintosh was performed by the Concert Choir.

    The Benediction was given by Rev. John Rice.

 

Commencement

   May 19, 1983 at 8:00 P.M.

    The Processional was by the High School Band, led by Mr. James Goebel, Director.

    The Invocation was given by Rev. Irenaeus Kimminau, O.F.M.

    The Salutatory was given by Lucinda Althauser.

    The Valedictory was given by Mark Mitchell.

    A song, "Yearnings," by John Carter was sung by the Concert Choir, with Sue Groeber performing a solo.  The Choir was lead by Mrs. Marilee Shoupe, Director.

    The Class of 1983 was presented by Principal John Gifford.

    The diplomas were presented by Mr. Carl Lensing, School Board President.

    The Benediction was given by Rev. Irenaeus Kimminau, O.F.M.
